Dear Mayor Brown, Councilmembers, and Plan Commissioners,

I am asking the City Council and Mayor to ask Governor Ferguson for at least six more months to complete the PlanSpokane update.

The 2026 Spokane area fires forced many residents from their homes and severely damaged parts of Spokane. The current schedule does not allow adequate updated information and public input, especially from people who lost their homes.

The Comprehensive Plan update is due at the end of 2026. Governor Ferguson has extended numerous other administrative deadlines since the fires, and the Council and Mayor should ask him to extend this one too.

Residents recovering from the Spokane Complex fires should not lose their chance to help shape this plan.
