Does my comment matter?

Dear Mayor Brown, Councilmembers, Plan Commissioners, and State Legislators, I am asking the City to extend the October 2 PlanSpokane comment deadline. The Spokane Complex fires started August 1. Six days later, the City released the draft growth map and updated plan chapters. That timing left Spokane residents to absorb a major new proposal while the community was responding to an emergency and its aftermath. People displaced by the fires should not lose their opportunity to participate, and residents in every neighborhood need time to understand what the newly released materials may mean for where they live. The fires also made questions about evacuation routes, road capacity, emergency access, and where Spokane should add growth more urgent. These issues deserve meaningful public review before Spokane adopts its 20-year growth plan. Please extend the October 2 comment deadline by six months and keep public comments open throughout that period. Thank you.
